ADVANCED BOXING SKILLS TRAINING IN UPLAND, CA

TRAIN WITH COACH AL FRANCO AT WARZONE BOXING CLUB

Advanced Boxing Skills Training is for beginners, developing boxers, and experienced athletes who want to learn real boxing at a serious level.

You do not need previous boxing experience to begin. What matters is that you are willing to learn, train consistently, accept coaching, and develop proper boxing skills from the ground up.

Training focuses on stance, balance, footwork, defense, punching mechanics, positioning, range control, counterpunching, conditioning, partner drills, boxing IQ, and eventually controlled sparring when the boxer is ready.

Competition is not required. Some members simply want to become highly skilled boxers, improve their self-defense ability, build confidence, and challenge themselves. Others may eventually decide to pursue amateur competition.

The goal is the same: learn how to box correctly.

WHO IS ADVANCED BOXING SKILLS TRAINING FOR?

This program is for men and women who want more than a boxing workout. It is designed for people who want to learn real boxing and develop their skills through serious, progressive training.

Beginners are welcome. You do not need previous boxing experience, but you must be willing to learn proper fundamentals, train consistently, accept coaching, and gradually progress into partner work and controlled sparring.

This program is also well suited for:

  • Beginners who want serious boxing instruction

  • Experienced boxers wanting stronger technical skills

  • Adults training for confidence and practical self-defense

  • Law-enforcement professionals wanting improved movement, defense, distance control, conditioning, and composure under pressure

  • MMA athletes wanting to improve their boxing, footwork, positioning, defense, range control, and punching mechanics

  • Athletes considering amateur boxing competition in the future

Competition is not required. Members may train simply to become better, more capable boxers.

As skills develop, members will progress through defensive drills, controlled partner work, controlled sparring, and eventually full contact sparring when Coach Al determines they are ready.

"COMPETITION IS OPTIONAL. SERIOUS TRAINING IS NOT'

WHAT YOU WILL DEVELOP?

Advanced Boxing Skills Training is about learning boxing correctly from the beginning and continuing to develop those skills at a higher level. Training teaches not only how to punch, but when, where, and why to use each skill.

Training may include:

  • Advanced linear and lateral footwork

  • Positioning and angles

  • Range and distance control

  • Defensive responsibility after punching

  • Head movement

  • Counterpunching

  • Jab control

  • Punch selection

  • Combination development

  • Working at short, mid, and long range

  • Ring positioning

  • Pressure management

  • Working off the ropes

  • Controlled offensive and defensive reactions

  • Partner drills

  • Mitt work

  • Technical conditioning

  • Boxing IQ and decision-making under pressure

The goal is to develop a boxer who can think, adjust, defend, and control position, not simply throw punches harder or faster.

HOW COACH AL FRANCO TEACHES ADVANCED BOXING

Coach Al Franco has nearly 30 years of coaching experience and founded Warzone Boxing Club in 1997.

His approach is based on identifying the small technical habits that often become major problems when a boxer is placed under pressure.

Foot placement, balance, defensive responsibility, distance, positioning, timing, composure, and decision-making are all addressed.

A fighter may be strong, fast, conditioned, and experienced and still have technical weaknesses that limit development.

Coach Al’s job is to identify those weaknesses, explain why they create problems, and replace them with better boxing habits.

The goal is not just to make you tired.
The goal is to make you a better boxer.

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO COMPETE

Advanced Boxing Skills Training is for people who want serious boxing development whether or not they ever choose to compete.

Members train to improve self-defense, confidence, conditioning, technique, composure, discipline, and overall boxing ability.

Controlled sparring is part of the training progression. It is introduced when Coach Al determines the boxer has developed the skills, control, conditioning, and defensive responsibility to begin working safely with a live opponent.

Some members may eventually choose amateur competition. Others may remain in Advanced Boxing Skills Training simply because they want to become highly skilled boxers.

INTERESTED IN COMPETING?

Members who want to test their skills in competition may progress into Warzone Boxing Club’s fighter-development system.

AMATEUR COMPETITION TEAM

Warzone’s Amateur Competition Team trains athletes specifically for USA Boxing competition.

Training: 4:00 PM–6:00 PM

This program moves beyond recreational training into structured fighter development, including competition preparation, conditioning, controlled sparring, technical development, and ring experience.

ELITE AMATEUR & PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Warzone’s Elite Team is reserved for a small percentage of athletes pursuing national, international, Olympic, or professional-level development.

Coach Al Franco personally trains the Elite Team.

Elite athletes are expected to meet significantly higher standards for conditioning, competition, travel, discipline, training availability, and overall commitment.

Elite Team Training: 10:00 AM–2:00 PM

Homeschooling is required for Elite Team athletes because of the daytime training, travel, competition, and camp schedule.

Entry is by evaluation and Coach Al Franco’s approval.

WHICH PROGRAM IS RIGHT FOR YOU?

If you want general boxing classes for fitness, confidence, self-defense, or recreation, Warzone’s regular boxing classes may be the right starting point.

If you want serious boxing instruction with Coach Al Franco, Advanced Boxing Skills Training is open to beginners as well as experienced boxers.

You do not need to know whether you want to compete when you begin. Start by learning boxing correctly, developing your conditioning, and progressing into controlled partner work and sparring when ready.

Members who eventually want amateur competition may pursue that path separately.

Fighters who demonstrate exceptional ability, discipline, competitive success, conditioning, and commitment may eventually be evaluated for Coach Al Franco’s Elite Amateur & Professional Development Program.
